Backpacking and Camping Trip Big Bend

This course provides outdoor recreational instruction on the concepts of backpacking and outdoor survival skills. Respect for our natural enviroment will be stressed and participants will be provided supervised backpacking experiences in the wilderness. New Mexico Junior College will provide backpacks, frames, cook stove, cookware, tents, sleeping bags, and compass for those who need them. The student must supply clothing, personal items, food, rain gear, and survival kit. The cost of these items is approximately $50 to $75. Participants need to be aware this is a streneous physical activity class. You need to be in fair physical condition for hiking and backpacking. If you have any questions, please contact the instructor. Limited to 20 participants 16 years and older.

Please read:  Class meets Monday nights March 19, April 2, 9, 16, & 23, the backpacking and camping trip will be April 27, 28, & 29 to the Big Bend National Park.
