Whether you're brand new to sewing or looking to build on your existing skills, this 10-week hands-on course will help you develop confidence behind the sewing machine while creating practical projects you'll be proud to take home.
Throughout the course, students will learn essential sewing techniques including machine operation, threading, seam construction, pockets, zippers, buttonholes, buttons, and lining techniques. Each project is designed to build upon the skills learned in previous weeks, allowing students to progress from simple beginner projects to more advanced construction methods.

Weekly Skills:
- Week 1: Sewing machine introduction, threading, and basic operation
- Week 2: Drawstring bag with casing construction
- Week 3: French seam pillowcase using three coordinating fabrics
- Weeks 4–5: Reversible apron with pocket application (students provide fabric)
- Week 6: Zipper insertion techniques with a beginner-friendly project
- Week 7: Creating buttonholes and sewing on buttons
- Weeks 8–10: Constructing a lined canvas bag using duck cloth and cotton lining (students provide materials)
This course is perfect for adults with little to moderate sewing experience who want to strengthen their sewing skills while completing beautiful, functional projects.
Materials: Students should bring a working sewing machine in good condition and basic sewing supplies. A materials list, including fabric requirements for selected projects, will be provided prior to the start of class. Limited to 8-10 students to allow for individualized instruction
