This 8 week course is designed as private lessons for either non-music or music majors. The student's proficiency level will be asessed by the voice instructor and an individual program will be developed. This course may also be repeated with new material introduced each course session. Students will develop the technique of good singing and learn a variety of vocal literature in the styles of pop, musical theater, contemporary Christian, and/or classical music. Students may choose their own vocal selections as well as perform suggested songs by the teacher. Part of the lesson will be spent on vocal technique exercises with the balance of the lesson on songs accompanied by the teacher or with CD accompaniment. The development of skill and perception will enable students to perform with greater confidence and pleasure, and/or listen to all music with sensitivity.
Performance opportunities may be offered but are not mandatory for vocal success.
