This is a physical education activity course that provides instruction in and practice of basic Pilates mat-work techniques. Pilates conditioning is designed to develop long, lean muscles along with flexibility and a healthy mind and body. Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Pilates called his method "Contrology." "Study carefully. Do not sacrifice knowledge to speed in building your solid exercise regime on the foundation of Contrology." -Joseph Pilates, from Return to Life, 1945

Appropriate dress for physical exercise. Comfortable or lose fitting clothing. An athletic shoe is not necessary since class will be performed barefooted. Socks may be worn, however they may cause sliding in some position. If you are more comfortable using your own Yoga/Pilates mat, you are encouraged to bring it, however mats are provided.
